Mother Daughter Retreat 2015

This weekend was our first Forest Trail Mother Daughter Retreat at T Bar M and it was fantastic!  We had so much fun!  First there was a ropes course.  We mostly just watched our friends and cheered them on.  Then there was swimming, painting, just hanging out together talking, a shaving cream war, dinner in our pjs and then a dance party and finally a big movie night altogether watching "The Parent Trap".  Then we were off to the cabin where Mom and I shared a bottom bunk because we just wanted to snuggle a little bit more.  This morning we had breakfast and then headed home so tired but so happy.
We match!

Painting was a favorite activity

The final masterpiece.  We could have painted all day.

Dance party!

Photo bombing is a new favorite.

"This way, we can stay together all night, Mom."

We sat on a swing in the shade and talked about these questions for an hour.  That was nice.

Loading up the car this morning went something like this.  We  were really "connected".

Annie!

Friday night Mom took us to see Annie at Bass Concert Hall.  We went with Mrs. Jefferies, Alice and Hollis.  We had dinner first at Threadgill's, then headed off to the show.  It was so good, but since it didn't start until 8:00, by intermission at 9:30, we were pooped and decided to go home.  Besides, Mom and I had a big weekend ahead!

Field trip to the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm

On Thursday, Kate had her Spring Field Trip to Elgin Christmas Tree Farm and I was lucky enough to chaperone so that I could join in on all of the fun.

Spring training

It's track season, so Luke has been spending a little time at the track running quarters and practicing the long jump.

First grade GT project

Kate just completed her very first GT project.  She was able to choose any animal, then she was to make a model of that animal.  As expected, she chose the cheetah and she (with the help of Mom and Uncle John) made an amazing model out of coat hangers, chicken wire, fabric and mod podge.  She was so proud!!

Happy birthday, Mama!!

Mom turned 39 this year and somehow we didn't manage a picture with her all day long.  We DID get to have some of her favorite birthday cake from Central Market though and I (Kate) was the very first one to wish her a happy birthday when I walked in her room at 6:45 in the morning and said, "Happy birthday, Mama" and gave her a kiss. She says that was the best part of her whole day.  Here she is celebrating with her friends that night at a fun dinner party that Daddy planned for her at La Condesa.  They look like they had a lot of fun!

Siblings.

Although there are days when I know they would love a little time apart, these two sure do treasure each other.  They have a really special little love between them.

"I love to read" day at Forest Trail

In first grade at Forest Trail, we celebrate reading by dressing up as our favorite book character on "I love to read" day.  I chose to be the white unicorn from "Nobody Rides the Unicorn".  We wore our costumes to school, paraded through the hallways, and finished with a fashion show in the cafeteria for our friends and family.  It was awesome!!

Happy Easter!

Easter at Blackjack with our cousins was the best.  We went on an egg hunt, went to church with Mimi and just had the most fun all weekend long.
Ready to hunt!

Scoping it out

Chocolate bunnies in the Easter nests were a favorite.
