A Day (Two) in the Life

My 2nd day was spent in the hospital but I got to meet some more of my people.  Today I met James, John McEwan, and Katie Jan.  Also, Kate brought me a present.  It was a really cool little farm book.  She showed me how to read it and play with it which I will definitely try and do one day.  Other than that, today consisted of mostly eating and sleeping.  Being a newborn is downright exhausting!

Luke's Life: Day 1

I have arrived!!!  Kate told me to get started with this blogging thing as soon as possible, so here I am!  I was born yesterday (how often do you admit to that?) at 8:11 am via c-section.  My mom and dad were there when I was born and so far I really like those two.  I weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz. and measured 19 3/4 inches long.  Gigi and Popo were at the hospital when I was wheeled out of the O.R. and into the nursery and then I had visitors come see me the rest of the day.  Aunt Rachel, Avery, and Dax showed up first.  Then Mama T and my big sister Kate showed up.  Kate kept saying, "He's so tiny." and then she asked to hold me.  I think we are going to have something special.  After Kate and I had our time together, I had more visitors.  There was Brandy and Jennifer and then Uncle John showed up.  It was a really big day for me to start off all snuggled up in my Mom's quiet, dark tummy and end up in the loud, bright world with all of these people who couldn't wait to get their hands on me.   Here are pictures of me and my new people!  Love, Luke

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving weekend has been great fun.  Gigi, Popo and Uncle John came to spend the weekend with us and I ate lots of turkey!  Turkey and rolls were the only part of Thanksgiving dinner that I was interested in.  Thursday night I watched the A&M/UT game with Mom, Gigi and Popo because Dad and Uncle John went to the game and guess what?  The Aggies won!!!  That made for a very happy Thanksgiving day around here.  Then on Saturday we met Alice and her family downtown for the Chuy's parade which was lots of fun.  After watching the Macy's Parade on Thursday I had great expectations and so I was excited to see all of the big balloons and the fun bands.  And of course Alice and I had fun running around and chasing each other.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  And stay tuned for my big announcement in a couple of days introducing my baby brother.  I am also thinking I will probably share this blog with him so there are going to be some changes.  The first one is that the new blog will be found at www.kateandluke.blogspot.com.  It only seems fair that I give him the chance to tell you all some stories from his perspective too.  Big sisterhood, here I come!!!

One week to go!

Well the countdown is on! I have exactly one week left to be the only child. I will miss having 100% of my parents' attention, but I will love having a new playmate! (Okay, so that is how my MOM is feeling right now, but I understand). Anyway, here Mom and I are showing off our tummies this morning before her final doctor's appointment just one week before I get to meet my baby brother!!

Preparing for Baby Luke...

This morning I went to a Sibling Preparation class at St. David's so that I could get ready to take care of my baby brother who will be here in 10 days! I learned how to swaddle him and feed him and then we got to take a tour of the hospital and see the nursery where there was one teeny tiny baby and I asked Mom, "Is that my baby brother?" Alas, it was not, but I am more excited to meet the little guy now. And after our class, we went to lunch together at Luby's.......Yum!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! Tonight I celebrated my third Halloween and it was the best one yet. We spent the evening with the Jefferies like we always do: playing, trick-or-treating, and eating pizza! As you all know, I was dressed as Ming Ming (and I posted a picture of the real Ming Ming so that you can see what a dead ringer I am!) and Alice dressed up as Alice from Alice in Wonderland. We had so much fun together. We were both REALLY good at trick or treating this year. And this year Gigi got to spend her first Halloween with me too. All in all, a fantastic night!

Charles turns one!

Last night we helped Charles celebrate his first birthday with a fun costume party at Terra Burger. Since Charles was born the day before Halloween, his mom thought it would be a great time for us to all debut our costumes. So here is the big reveal: I chose to be Ming Ming from the Wonder Pets. Mom said I could choose this year and it took me no time at all to decide that Ming Ming was it. So Gigi made the hat and Mom made the cape and as soon as I put the costume on I started giggling because I felt like I was looking pretty irresistably cute. I only wore the costume for the first 10 minutes because it was a bit hot and then we had a blast playing on the playground and in the water. It is always good to see my old friend William and those Robb twins and it was fun to watch Charles devour his birthday cupcake. Happy Birthday Charlie Bear!
