Zilker Park Love

As of late, we have been spending lots of time at Zilker Park enjoying the beautiful weather.  On Friday afternoon, Dad got to join us and we took Luke on his first ride on the Zilker Zephyr.  He was so relaxed, he just laid his head on Dad's shoulder and rested almost the whole trip.  Then we kicked around the soccer ball (Dad likes to do tricks) and played lots of chase-and-tickle.

Happy Birthday, Gigi!

Last Tuesday our Gigi turned 60 (but we think she doesn't seem a day over 30!) so to celebrate her special day, we met her at Palmetto State Park between here and Yoakum with a fantastic birthday picnic and lots of hugs and kisses for her.  Happy Birthday, Gigi!  We sure do love you!!

This weekend we......

We gazed at the clouds at Zilker.

And played a little ball while we were there, too.

We had pizza at the McEwans' house.

We celebrated Wyatt's 4th birthday....

with lots of friends!

Kate and Mom had a girls day out on Sunday with church, lunch, gelato and "reward" toy shopping.

We had lunch at Austin's pizza with the Utkovs and the Patricks and Luke garnered ALL of the attention from the ladies.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mom and I both got flowers and sunglasses from Dad.

Ready for school.  LO-VE.

Cheese fondue!

Dessert: Chocolate fondue.  Mmmmmmm.

And a good night kiss from LUCY end a wonderful day.
Today we celebrated Valentine's Day, the day of Love.  I had a fun party at school where I exchanged Valentine's with my classmates, and Luke had a little party at our church (he now goes to a little "school" there on Tuesdays and Thursday for a few hours-he says he likes it because there are only 6 kids in his class, and FIVE of them are BOYS!!!)  Anyway, when we got home, we all exchanged our Valentine's Day presents and then after Luke went to bed, we had a fondue party.  My favorite parts were the bread and the brownies.  Happy Valentine's Day!!

Best friends

This morning as Kate and Luke were playing, Luke was getting a little rough and as he tried to hit Kate over the head with something,  Brad told him, "No, Luke!" to which Kate replied, "No, Mom and Dad.  Please don't fuss at him.  He is my very best friend."  We laughed.  And then we cried.  Literally.  What a sweet little soul.

Dancing Hearts: A date night with Daddy

Pretty girls

My heart necklace is different than your heart necklace.
Pedicure time!

"Oh Mom, she is putting a heart on my toe.  How sweet!"  (Bailey is quite serious back there.)

Now time for hair.

"I just want lots and lots of curls and a headband."

A pink unicorn tie.  Just my style.

Bailey gives her dad a sweet little nuzzle on the pink carpet.

There was pink candy EVERYWHERE!!!

And now....the dance floor.

This weekend was the annual Dancing Hearts dance which is a benefit for the Gladney center for adoption.  Aunt Amy is on the benefit's committee and we have some friends in San Antonio who were adopted through Gladney, so Bailey and I were so excited to get all dressed up and go dancing with our Dads.  First, it was time to have a day of beauty together though, so we went for manicures and pedicures (my first EVER at a salon!) and we got our hair curled (my first time ever to a hair salon too!)  Then it was time to put on our fancy dresses and dancing shoes and walk the pink carpet.  Once we got there, we had a little dinner, did a little dancing and just really had fun hanging out with our handsome Dads.  I mean, can you blame us?  OH and the real highlight of the night: Dad surprised me by wearing a pink tie with a UNICORN on it!  That guy is pretty awesome.

A glimpse at a day in the life of four year old Kate

Hearing test!

Chocolate gelato as a reward after four shots.  The nurse said my legs were trying to kick her so hard, I should play soccer!

Dad came to my appointment for a little moral support.  Thanks Dad!
I had my 4 year well-check on Friday, so I thought I would take this time to give you a glimpse into what it is like to be 4 year-old Kate Evelyn Townsend.  Each morning I wake up bright and early between 6:30 and 7, and I am ready to go.  I wake up really happy and asking for pancakes (with syrup on the side) and chocolate milk almost every morning for breakfast.  After breakfast I play a little.  My favorite things to play right now are pretend (mostly I like to pretend that we are a family of cats or unicorns or dogs or peacocks or horses or birdies or reindeer).  I also really like to paint and draw and do "work" in workbooks.  Then if it is a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday I am off to school where my teachers say my favorite activities are practicing numbers and letters and anything artistic.  On Mondays and Fridays I stay home with Mom and we go to swimming, dance, or we spend time playing in the yard or at a park.  I love to draw with chalk in the driveway.  Mostly I draw rainbow unicorns and variations on that subject.   I am also very much into getting a game of "chase and tickle" started up.  I like to push Luke on his little trike or on my scooter and we also like to play "ball" together or "bury the animals" in the sandbox.  For lunch, I request that I have the exact same thing everyday: a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a red apple and a yogurt stick.  My favorite dinner is princess spaghettios or macaroni and cheese shells.  I love my carbs.  Bedtime is around 8:00 and I really enjoy taking a bath with Luke and then reading books.  Some favorite books right now are 101 Dalmatians and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.   Then I drift off to dream and my dream wish is almost always about Baby Luke or a unicorn running across a rainbow.  Being four is really a good time.  Here are some photos from my doctor appointment where I got four shots (What the HECK???) and had my first vision and hearing test which I thought was great fun.
