Mothers Day Lunch: Homemade fried chicken (my favorite!)

So Mom says she lived in this house with 30 of her girlfriends.  WHAT?  That sounds amazing!

We had so much to celebrate this weekend.  Friday was Mom and Dad's 5 year wedding anniversary.  Mom tried like the dickens to get a picture of all four of us under the trees at Blackjack where she and Dad got married but we couldn't seem to all be awake and clothed (see pictures) at the same time.  On Sunday we celebrated Mom's first Mother's Day with both of us.  I woke up Sunday morning and said, "Happy Mother's Day Mom.  I love you so much."  She almost started to cry.  Mother, don't embarrass us!  Gigi and Mom made a yummy lunch for us (Mimi was there too!) to celebrate all of our mommies.  It was a beautiful day.  Then we woke up this morning and all roadtripped to College Station because Dad had a couple of work meetings there, so we dropped him off and had lunch at Layne's and then we just went sightseeing around campus.  Every time I would see the "ATM" I would say,  "Ooooooh that's Gig em Aggies!"   I also got a great reaction when, on Saturday, Dad and I were sitting at the bar at Blackjack and out of the blue I said, "I'm so happy at Blackjack".  So are we, Sweet Pea, so are we.

This weekend two very historical things happened and one day we might wonder, "Where were we when.....?"  and so I am going to tell you!  First of all on Friday morning Prince William of England married his princess, Kate (nice name, by the way).  Mom, Luke and I watched the coverage and although I didn't watch it all, I did pick up on the fact that in order to get married, you need flowers.  That's all-just flowers.  For the rest of the day, I would tell Mom, "I am getting married, so I need flowers."  Then on Sunday, America got the news that Osama Bin Laden, this crazy mean man, had been killed.  Now I know it is not usually good when someone dies, but in this case, it is what we call justice because he is responsible for the death of thousands of Americans on 9-11-01 (way before I was born!).  Either way, it was a Disney kind of weekend: the prince and princess got married and the bad guy was killed.  And they all lived happily ever after.

Here is a little update on my favorite things these days.  I love playing pretend complete with the sound effects.  I like to pretend I am a baby cat (meow! meow!) , a baby bird (tweek! tweek!), a princess,  and a mermaid.  I also love to help Mom cook.  Breakfast is my favorite because I love cracking eggs and stirring things (eggs, pancakes, cupcake batter).

Tonight was my first "Daddy/Daughter Date".  Dad and I went to Disney Princesses on Ice while Mom and Luke stayed home and did their own thing.  Dad took some of his brokers but I was excited that some of my friends went with us.  Alice and Bailey (and their Dads Jeff and Ben) drove there with us and we met Lillian there (with James).  And then when the show started, I was so excited!  I turned around and looked at Dad and said, "This is CRAZY!"  I loved it all!!  My favorite was Jasmine, but Ariel was definitely a close second.  We had such a fun time.  I just love my Dad!!

Mermaids

Mermaids are a big deal around here these days.  I pretend to be a mermaid (Ariel, specifically) every chance I get.  In the bathtub.  In the pool.  Or just sitting on rocks in the front yard.  "Look, Mom, I am a beautiful mermaid with a green tail and long red hair.  I am sitting on my tail, Mom.  Look!"

Last night the Swaneys came in to hang out with us and this morning we went to the Austin Zoo which was lots of fun except for the fact that I was running so fast I fell down and skinned my knee.  That really ruined my morning :(  I did agree to smile for pictures in exchange for a purple snow cone though!

5 months old!

Yesterday I turned 5 months old!  I have really grown up this month.  I eat real food every night.  I love oatmeal.  I do not love rice cereal.  I love prunes, apples, and peaches but am not so big on the veggies.  I have been known to try and hold my bottle and I have become completely enamored of my big sister.  I always reach for her and love to grab her beautiful blonde hair.  She is very sweet to me until I pull her hair and then we have a problem.

Today is Easter and it was a beautiful day.  This morning I woke up to find Easter eggs all over my front yard and lots of fun treats in my Easter nest.  I took off up the hill and started picking up eggs and you will never guess who hopped through my front yard.  The EASTER BUNNY!  Seriously, it was this cute little gray rabbit and I dropped my basket and pointed and said, "Hey everybody, it's the Easter bunny!!!"  I guess he just wanted to hang around and make sure that I found all of the eggs that he had hidden for me.  After I found all of the eggs and went through them all to check out my candy stash, we got dressed and drove to La Grange to go to church and have lunch with Mimi.  What a beautiful Easter Sunday with my family.
